Orbis Security Solutions is committed to being a responsible and contributing corporate citizen. Orbis’ aim for community investment is designed to enhance the relationships between the communities in which we operate and to make a difference to the lives of people living in these communities. With this in mind, Orbis made donations to the following worthy causes:
Men on the Side of the Road (MSR)
A non-profit organisation that seeks to bridge the gap between the growing economy and unemployed people with low skills. The essence of our activities is to increase the ability of people to earn a sustainable income.
LearntoEarn
Established in 1989 with the objective of training and equipping unemployed persons in various skills, inter alia: sewing / garment making and carpentry, so that they may become self-supportive and independent. In addition, students are trained in basic business skills and functional literacy and life skills. The ultimate goal is to enhance the quality of life of people from disadvantaged communities and facilitate the restoration of self-respect and dignity.
Based in Khayelitsha, is an established community crèche (preschool) caring for roughly 230 children aged three months to six years. It also acts as a place of safety for abandoned, abused, neglected or orphaned children, most of whom are either infected with or affected by HIV/Aids
Isivungu-Vungu Sailing School
Another one of our social responsibility initiatives is supporting the Isivungu-Vungu Sailing School. Izivungu-Vungu, is a social upliftment sailing project that provides sailing classes to disadvantaged children from Red Hill, Ocean View, Masiphumalela and Simon’s Town. In addition to the classes, other opportunities such as the art of sail making and boat building are offered, which enables them to find employment in the maritime industry. A Buccaneer keelboat with a maintenance fund was donated to the school earlier this year in preparation for the Spring Regatta hosted by the False Bay Yacht Club in September 2010. A team of young men were selected to sail the boat aptly named Orbis Fusion, skippered by Sibusiso. Orbis Fusion was placed 2nd in the Buccaneer class. We can’t wait to see what the future holds for these budding sailors!

Ons Plek Projects: Shelters for Female Street Children
They provide 24-hour accommodation, counselling and education for female street children who are considered to be the poorest of the poor. Their every need (food, clothing, medical and schooling) is provided for and the organisation looks at empowering these girls through providing integrated programmes to equip and prepare the children for their future lives.
Home from home
They aims to provide supported and supervised foster care for orphaned, abandoned and vulnerable children in small family homes in their own communities. Our homes are either purpose-built or are existing houses. While our first prize is to have children re-united with their own families, or adopted, we also aim to enable institutionalised children to return to their communities by placing them in one of our houses.

FAMSA
FAMSA Western Cape is a Non-Governmental Organisation committed to the building of sound relationships in "families" - in their various forms, and in communities. We believe that "healthy" families inspire "healthy" communities.
Vision & Mission: To actively participate in the protection and preservation of family life. To empower people to reconstruct, build, and maintain sound relationships in the family, marriage, and in communities.
Khayelitsha After-Care: The programme aims to care for young children who’s parents are at work and have no-one to look after them as well as children that we identify as vulnerable. It is a fact that many young children are abused during the holidays or after school when they have no supervision. FAMSA provides educational and age appropriate life skills programmes as well as home-work supervision for the older children. The children receive a nourishing meal and love and affection.
